What you get free

  • 5 full-length forms, trimmed to the sections you choose, so you can retest on fresh questions.
  • A timed test for each section, when one section needs focused work.
  • Your school's sections preset when you have saved your schools, or pick them yourself.
  • Results like the real report: a percent for each section and a cumulative, with every question explained.

The section counts and clocks follow the usual testing-center values. Your school's testing center may set different times.

Try three questions now

These are original HESI A2-style items, one from each of the sections schools require most.

Sample question · HESI A2 MathEasy

A medication is due at 1545. What is this time on a 12-hour clock?

Sample question · HESI A2 VocabularyEasy

The patient reports intermittent chest discomfort. What is the best meaning of intermittent?

Sample question · HESI A2 ReadingEasy

Community gardens have spread through many cities over the past few decades. Supporters point out that a shared garden turns an empty lot into a source of fresh vegetables. Neighbors who might never have spoken now meet while weeding the same rows. Some cities have also found that gardens help absorb rainwater that would otherwise flood the streets. For these reasons, more city planners now set aside land for gardens when they design new neighborhoods. Which statement best expresses the main idea of the passage?

How to use a practice test well

  1. Take your school's sections under time, in one sitting if you can, like test day.
  2. Read every explanation, including for questions you got right by guessing.
  3. Rank the sections by how far each sits below your school's minimum.
  4. Study the lowest section's weak topics, then retest it on a different form.

The six-week study plan builds this into a schedule.

After the test: learning that matches the results

Every HESI A2 topic has a cheat sheet and practice questions (3,400 in all), plus short speed-learning cards and a 505-word vocabulary deck. Free accounts can start learning right away; Premium ($9.99/month) removes the limits and also covers the TEAS and nursing school.

Official practice

We found no free official HESI A2 content practice test. Elsevier sells the Admission Assessment Exam Review (6th edition, 2024), which includes a pre-test, a post-test, and online practice exams. Its chapters cover every section except Physics. NurseSavvy's questions are our own, written to the topics school testing centers list, and our scores are practice scores, not official HESI scores.

Common questions

Is there a free HESI A2 practice test?

Yes. NurseSavvy has free timed HESI A2 practice tests: 5 full-length forms and a test for each of the 8 sections. You pick your school’s sections, and every question is explained when you finish.

Are NurseSavvy HESI A2 practice tests really free?

Yes. Practice tests are free with a free account and no credit card. Premium ($9.99/month) removes the limits on lessons, practice questions, and speed-learning cards, and the same plan covers the TEAS and nursing school.

Are these official HESI questions?

No. They are original HESI A2-style questions written to the section topics school testing centers list. Elsevier sells an official review book; NurseSavvy is not affiliated with Elsevier.

Does Elsevier offer a free HESI A2 practice test?

We found no free official content practice test. Elsevier’s official review book (6th edition, 2024) includes a pre-test, a post-test, and online practice exams. The “mock exam” in Elsevier’s student guide is a check that your device works with the testing software, not content practice.

Does a practice score predict my real HESI A2 score?

Not exactly. Our scores are practice scores in the same shape as the real report (each section plus a cumulative), useful for finding weak sections. They are not official scores.
