A drug suffix is a retrieval cue, not the whole medication. Use it to call up the class, then use the class to retrieve the mechanism and one adverse effect that logically follows. That chain is more durable than memorizing a separate list for every generic name.

How to practice the chain

  1. Cover the table and identify the class from a generic name.
  2. State the mechanism in one plain-language sentence.
  3. Predict one adverse effect from that mechanism.
  4. Add the prototype drug and one nursing assessment.
  5. Mix classes so the heading no longer gives away the answer.
