NurseSavvy gives every free account unlimited NCLEX-style practice questions: 5,864 published questions in every Next Gen format, unfolding case studies included, with no daily cap, no credit card, and no expiry. Every question is tagged to one of the 8 NCSBN Client Needs subcategories, comes with a full explanation, and adapts to you topic by topic. Full-length NCLEX practice tests are free and unlimited too.
Other sites give away questions as well, and some are worth using. The difference is what sits around the questions: whether they are mapped to the test plan, checked before you learn from them, scored in the real Next Gen formats, and remembered so the ones you miss come back.
What a free NurseSavvy account includes
- Unlimited practice questions in multiple choice, Select All That Apply, Select N, Bowtie, matrix, highlight, drag-and-drop cloze, trend, and ordered response, plus six-item unfolding case studies. Topic pages, smart practice, and questions matched to your study guide all draw from the same bank.
- Difficulty that follows you. Practice adjusts topic by topic: miss a question and the next one on that topic steps down a tier; get two right in a row and it steps up. Six tiers in all.
- Explanations on every question. Every question has a full explanation, and multiple-choice, SATA, and Select N questions explain every answer choice, right and wrong.
- A record of what you missed. Every answer updates per-topic mastery and a spaced-review queue, so a miss from last Tuesday comes back before it is forgotten.
- Unlimited full-length NCLEX practice tests. Computer adaptive, 85 questions by default with 3 Next Gen case studies, extendable to 150. How the free practice test works.
- Unlimited games for the pairs students mix up, plus podcasts and cheat sheets.
The one metered part of the free plan is speed learning, the learning-flow cards that teach a topic one fact at a time: 200 cards to start, then 30 a day. Premium ($9.99/month) makes that unlimited. Questions and tests never touch the meter.

Other free NCLEX question sources, and their limits
Here is what each tool’s own pages said about free practice when we checked on October 14, 2026. If something has changed, tell us and the table gets updated.
| Tool | Free practice questions | Full-length test on the free plan |
|---|---|---|
| NurseSavvy | Unlimited — every NGN format, case studies, adaptive by topic, free account, no card | Yes — CAT, 85 questions by default with optional extension to 150, 3 NGN case studies, free account, no card |
| Test-Guide | One free 85-question exam on the page we checked | Yes — one free 85-question full-length exam, sign-in required |
| SimpleNursing | A free 75-question exam; an email address unlocks it after question 5 | No — a free 75-question practice exam; an email address unlocks everything after the first 5 questions |
| Nurseslabs | Thousands, no sign-up, in quizzes of up to 75 items | No — thousands of free practice questions with no sign-up, in quizzes of up to 75 items; no full-length adaptive exam |
| Nurse Plus | Free practice tests with no login | No — free practice tests with no login, but the 85–150 question NCLEX simulator is a Premium feature |
| UWorld | 50 questions in a 7-day free trial | No — CAT practice tests are part of a paid subscription; a free 7-day trial includes 50 questions |
| Kaplan | A free practice test and a question-bank trial, sign-up required | No — full-length CATs are part of paid courses; its free practice test and question-bank trial require sign-up |
Nurseslabs deserves a mention: thousands of questions with no sign-up is generous. If you only need a quick quiz on one topic, it does the job. What it does not do is remember your misses, adapt to you, or give you a full-length adaptive exam.
Five things to check in any free question source
- Is each question mapped to the test plan? The NCLEX is built from 8 Client Needs subcategories with published percentage ranges. A source that cannot tell you which category a question tests cannot tell you whether your practice is balanced. The categories and percentages, explained.
- Are the Next Gen formats real and scored? Bowtie, matrix, and highlight items reward partial knowledge differently from multiple choice. Reading one in plain text is not the same as answering one.
- Does every answer choice get explained? The fastest learning comes from why your wrong choice was tempting, not just from the right letter.
- Is difficulty based on anything? “Hard” should mean real students missed it. NurseSavvy’s readiness exam scores you on a difficulty scale fitted to 20,000+ scored student answers.
- Does it remember you? A source that forgets what you missed makes you do the remembering.
The same five checks are why a list of questions from ChatGPT is not a substitute for a bank. ChatGPT NCLEX questions vs a real question bank goes through them one by one, with the research.

Why are the questions free?
Practice questions are the highest-yield way to study for the NCLEX, so we would rather you answer more of them than ration them. NurseSavvy is 5,864 questions plus a second corpus, 9,011 learning-flow cards across 549 topics that teach the facts the questions test. Premium pays for unlimited speed learning through those cards; the questions stay free.
