Nursing Exam Countdown Planner
Enter the date of your next nursing school exam. The planner counts the days you have and lays them out in order: learn the unit first, then work questions, then spend the last stretch on only what you missed, and stop the night before.
It is for the student looking at an exam date and a pile of material and wondering what to do on which day. Tick the box if your professor has posted a study guide and the question phase changes to match.

How the planner splits your days
- It counts whole days from today to the exam date and divides them into up to four phases, in this order: Learn the unit, Work the study guide (or Questions on the unit), Only your misses, and Stop. Each phase shows its own start and end date.
- The end of the plan is fixed first. With three or more days, the last day before the exam is a Stop day with nothing new. The misses-only phase gets two days when you have six or more days, and one day when you have three to five.
- The question phase gets up to four days. Whatever is left over goes to the learn phase, so a longer runway stretches the learning, not the ending. With ten or more days, at least three days are held for learning before questions start.
- Short runways compress. With seven days or fewer there is no learn phase at all, and under six days the planner tells you to skip new material and work questions and misses only.
- The study-guide checkbox starts ticked. Unticking it renames the question phase and changes its instructions to questions on the exam topics until the guide is posted; it does not change how many days each phase gets.
- The phase instructions describe NurseSavvy’s own study loop (learning-flow rounds, an uploaded study guide matched to questions, missed items coming back on a schedule). The planner itself needs no account, does date arithmetic in your browser, and stores nothing. A date that is today or already past gets a prompt to enter the next one.
The reasoning behind it

Questions people ask
- How should I plan the days before a nursing school exam?
- This planner puts learning first, questions second, a final stretch on only the cards and questions you missed, and nothing new the night before. How long each phase lasts depends on how many days you have.
- What if my exam is less than a week away?
- The learn phase drops out. Under six days the planner calls it a short runway and tells you to skip new material and spend the time on questions and your misses, still ending with a stop day when you have at least three days.
- What if my professor has not posted a study guide yet?
- Untick the study guide box. The question phase becomes NCLEX-style questions on the exam topics, with a note to upload the guide the day it is posted.
- Does the planner save my exam date?
- No. It works without an account, the math runs in your browser, and nothing is stored. If you reload the page you enter the date again.
